This healthy and simple yet scrumptious granola recipe will leave you wanting for more!
Granola can be a highly nutritious food and can be part of a healthy balanced diet. However, many of the store bought varieties are high in calories, unhealthy fats and packed with sugar. When buying granola, be sure to check the nutrition facts table as well as the ingredient list. Even better, in my opinion, is to make your own homemade granola. You not only control what goes in the granola, but also the flavor and crunch are hard to beat!
I am sharing my favorite granola recipe below. Remember that granola recipes are very versatile as you can use your favorite nuts and/or seeds. For sweetness, you can use any dried fruit you like and/or chocolate chips.
Keep in mind that granola is typically high in calories because of the high content of fats present in nuts. Although these fats are healthy, they are still high in calories. So as tempting as it is, watch the portion size and stick to about ¼ cup as the serving.
